Updates

I’ve not written a blog for a week or so partly because of busyness, but also because I’ve not really had anything to say.

I know the weather is cooling but to
me it still feels as warm as it did in
late summer!
At risk of sounding awfully smug, this pregnancy seems to have finally reached the ‘coasting’ phase (I realise this is as I’m coming to the end of the second trimester, so famous last words, and all that) and I’m just pootling along merrily, to be honest.

Even my back and rib pain doesn’t seem so bad this week. Maybe this is down to my psyche knowing that there’s nothing to be done about it and coming to a mutual agreement with my pain receptors to just leave off for now? Or maybe it’s because I’ve had yet another stinking cold this week and there’s just too much going on in my body for a pain that’s been hanging around for a while to get a look in? It could also be thanks to a lady on one of the mums-to-be groups on Facebook mentioning that she had a similar pain and her midwife had suggested that, despite the pain being high up in the rib cage, that it could actually be trapped wind (thanks to Spud shifting everything around) and recommended peppermint supplements in the form of water, mints, tea, etc. Well, over the past couple of days I’ve been drinking peppermint tea like it’s going out of fashion, and it does seem to have eased the ache slightly. So maybe a combination of all of the above?

Despite the cooling weather, I’m still overheating at any given opportunity. I looked pretty insane walking through London in just a long-sleeved dress while everyone was bundled up in coats and scarves! I’m actually looking forward to the cold snap that we’re predicted so I can comfortably curl up in my habitual baggy jumpers and slippers.

And finally, Spud is practising her gymnastics routine as I write. It’s such a peculiar feeling, isn’t it?

How is everyone getting on?? Is everyone else merrily coasting along as well?
