Hit Snooze
Throughout most of this pregnancy I’ve been sleeping like a log. This has been an absolute revelation for me as I’m usually a really terrible sleeper, so T and I guessed it was my body letting me store up sleep points for the months ahead.
Well, this has all been blown out of the water over the past week - sleep has been so disrupted and uncomfortable. I’ve been waking up at the slightest noise or niggle and having weird and vivid stress dreams when I do sleep (though, fortunately, nothing like the nightmares that plagued me earlier in pregnancy!)
Spud is bigger and stronger now, and I feel her moving pretty much throughout the day. Annoyingly, though, some of her favourite wiggle times include the second I lie down to sleep, and at about 3am, so she’s actually started waking me up now with her boops and bumps around. Needing to pee every twenty minutes is another obvious interruption to a nights sleep, and, irritatingly, I’m waking up with a raging thirst at the same time, so it’s a constant process of filling up and emptying out during the night.
I’ve been getting really sharp pains in my hip joints, too, which have been waking me up and causing issues first thing in the morning – I’ve had problems with my hips for years, and during one of my earliest midwife appointments she said to watch out for signs of SPD. Well this doesn’t feel like any description of that pain that I’ve found (though this morning I stood up and a did feel a pressure on the points that SPD is supposed to affect, so I’ll have to keep an eye on that), as the hip pain is more in my acetabulum joint, where I have had issues before. I have a midwife appointment next week so I’ll mention it then and see what she suggests.
Has anyone else had hip joint pains during pregnancy? What did you do to relieve it?
Walking is starting to become quite uncomfortable but it's worth it for Autumn colours like this! |
