Googly

Tell you what, something that has really amused me about pregnancy is Google’s reaction.

We all know that when you’re ill you should never check your symptoms online:
Me: Hey Google, I have a bit of a stomach ache
Google: You’re probably going to die
Me: Whoa, that seems a little extreme, it’s just a stomach ache! I mean, I’ve not even been sick.
Google: Exactly. Death. This is the end of you. Soz.
But when you’re pregnant you can ask almost exactly the same question and you get a completely different response:
Me: Hey Google, I have a bit of a stomach ache.
Google: You’re probably going to d…
Me: Oh, did I mention I was pregnant?
Google: Oh, right. Nah, you’re all good dude. Perfectly normal.
It’s mad, right? I’ve googled some symptoms that would likely have had me running to A&E in the past, but, now, the internet is all “Chillax, bae; nothing to worry about at all.” It’s weird and reassuring at the same time.

There are so many changes occurring both on the inside and outside of a body when it's growing another human in there that what we might consider *normal* is completely turned upside down. It's nice to have the internet on-side for once.

Did you get any funny responses when you searched your symptoms online?
