Mum Points

I recently had a conversation with my mum when she texted to ask me how I was feeling, to which I replied:

“Bloated and shattered. You?”

As happens with mums (oh god, I’m going to be a mum) the conversation meandered somewhat before I had a minor breakdown and confessed that I was freaking out a little bit. My mum tried to reassure me that T and I were going to be fantastic, which resulted in a moment of confusion before I remembered that she was talking about parenthood (oh god, I’m going to be a mum) and not the fact that, in another aspect of my life I'm about to finish a Masters Degree, and the dissertation is due in the next eight weeks. So, completely not baby related, but, due to Spud, I’m having difficulty focusing.

So, yeah, nul-mum-points for me there. (Oh god, I’m going to be a mum and for a moment I forgot the damn baby).

Anyway, I responded in my usual, measured manner:

“Oh, I’m not nervous about the pregnancy or parenting thing. I think that between the two of us we’ll be able to bullshit our way through most of it.”

I think that’s what most of us are doing most of the time anyway, right?

Who did you turn to most for advice while you were pregnant?
