Sleep It Off

Right, is this psychological or is it actually really real?

I am the most tired thing that ever was tired. I have been fighting to stay awake for the last couple of days. I’m surprised I have the energy to write this post!

I usually struggle to sleep at night, as my thoughts ping-pong off the inside of my skull. Then, come morning, I sleep through my alarms and have to be crowbarred from the bed.

The last two days have been incredible – I’ve been working from home and have had morning naps, afternoon naps, early nights; and I bounce out of bed, before my alarms, full of the joys of spring. If I’d known I would get this much sleep when pregnant I’d have gotten T to knock me up years ago!

It could be a pregnancy thing, but it could also be because my blood is basically coffee, and I've cut myself down to one 'proper' coffee when I first wake up, and I'm having herbal tea and decaf (devil) coffee the rest of the time.

I’ve also been getting little twinges of discomfort in my stomach – like a stitch from running I guess (I say ‘I guess’ because if you see me running, run too because I’m running away from something) – and I’ve been, erm, rather gassy. Apparently, this is all completely normal, but what I’m wondering is whether I’d even think anything of it if I didn’t know I was pregnant. I mean, it has only been two days since I found out, and many women would maybe still just think they were late.

I bought one of the super-duper-expensive tests yesterday – one of those that costs so much money you expect it to tell you, not just the estimated date of conception, but the baby’s sex, eye-colour, favourite movie, and GCSE results. I just wanted to check – to make sure. And yep. This is really real now…

Bloody hell…

What were your first pregnancy symptoms?
